2019 Agric-Show in the NWR
The Governor called on farmers of the North-West Region to go beyond Subsistence Agriculture and embrace Second Generation Agriculture.

The event at the Big Mankon Cathedral Field Bamenda was the official launching of the Regional Agro-pastoral and Trade Fair by the Governor accompanied by the Inspector General of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development. It aimed at promoting and marketing local agriculture and livestock productions. It was a showcase for the farmers from the seven Divisions to display the fruit of their labour which was rewarded by numerous prizes.

In his welcome address, the Government Delegate to the Bamenda City Council thanked the government for this agro pastoral show which restores the city of Bamenda to its former card.

Taking the floor, the President of the North-West Region farmers Platform, PLANOPAC thanked the government for the many agricultural and livestock projects and programs put at the disposal of the producers. He equally raised some proposals to improve the agro-sylvo pastoral and fisheries sector which contributes over 30% of the GDP of Cameroon.

While congratulating the exhibitors on their savoir-faire through his keynote address, the Governor encouraged the farmers whose activities are threatened by the socio political challenges. He therefore, reiterated them to mobilize themselves into vigilante groups in order to accompany the security forces in their tasks. He equally seized the opportunity to call on the youths of the North-West Region who are still in the bushes to lay down their arms, get involved in agriculture and take advantage of the numerous projects and programs to create jobs for themselves.

He ended by calling on the inhabitants of Bamenda to take maximum advantage of that opportunity to shop for the end of year festivities.
