The 2016 edition of the Youth Day occurs within a special context where all the Cameroonians and particularly the youth are engaged as one nation to fight terrorism, and also to celebrate its 50th anniversary on Thursday 11th February 2016. For this special edition, the first preparation meeting was aimed at examining the last year's report, creation of committees and present some innovations which included the availability of a special fabric, construction of a monument, creation of a youth anthem and logo, organization of a carnival and especially the decentralization of the youth celebration in the administrative units of Bamenda I and III.

The meeting was a better place for the Regional Delegate of Youth Affairs and Civic Education to raise the polemic on the appellation of the day which is commonly called National Youth Day instead of Youth Day. She equally presented the special fabric made for the 50th anniversary to all the structures involved in the organization. The fabric, that she said was available at an affordable price that varies between3000  and 6000 thousand francs FCFA and in red green, yellow, and blue colors.

On his part, the Secretary General of the North-West Region, MONONO Absalom WOLOA, while noting that the time was short, called on the youth to take part actively and massively in all the activities involved in the celebration of that historic event equally to be in possession of the fabric so that the event would be colorful and memorable. He equally called on Committee members to effectively and efficiently execute their various missions so as to register a successful 50th anniversary celebration of youth day.
