The International Federation of Women Lawyer (FIDA) has done a grand launching of their North West branch under the theme "Women's rights and sustainable Development in the North West Region". The launching was done under the distinguished patronage of the Governor of the North West Region, Adolphe LELE LAFRIQUE at the Congress Hall, Commercial Avenue.

During the occasion, some 10 executive members of FIDA Bamenda were installed into their various functions by the National President of FIDA Cameroon. Governor LELE LAFRIQUE congratulated the newly installed bureau and urged them to work alongside the social and security sectors of the country to promote, protect and preserve the right of the North-West women and the girl child. He added that the fact that women are the ones championing this cause is important because the woman is a principal actor for the realization of the Millennium Goals and of the 2035 vision for an emergent Cameroon and that the state has ratified several instruments touching on the rights of women. He cited examples of the Convention on the Elimination of all forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW) and the Protocol to the African Charter on the Rights of Women in Africa (MAPUTO Protocol).
