Launching of Cameroon Fashion Week in Bamenda
The open show of the 5th edition of the Cameroon Fashion Week took place at MAWA Hotel, Bamenda.

The open show of the 5th edition of Cameroon Fashion Week supported by the Minister of Arts and Culture, MINAC, was centered on three stages. After a brief fashion parade and shooting show done by the 15 young models selected from the national territory, there was an exchange between the fashion, textile and clothing actors and experts. The evening was devoted to a fashion parade during which the young models upgraded the African wrapper and the traditional afro style with passion and professionalism, followed by a trade exhibition. The open show which lasted 2 days aimed at Promoting and bringing out the talents of the designers in order to enable them to live on with what they are able to do.

The national coordinator, Mr. Francois HAMAN, said that the choice of Bamenda for the open show of the 5th edition of Cameroon Fashion Week was justified by its rich cultural potential, suited to the Grassfield people.

The particularity of this edition was based on its national aspect; models, designers and make-up artists had been selected from the ten Regions.

The Director of the promotion of arts, Mr. Armand ABANDA representing the Minister of Arts and Culture, explained that the Cameroon Fashion Week was all about the structuring of the fashion and design professions for an effective contribution to development and especially for job creation. Moreover, the support of the Ministry consisted in integrating all these professions in all the manifestations it organized and financing the best creative designers.

The apotheosis of the 5th edition of Cameroon Fashion Week will take place in Yaoundé from June 27 to 29.
