A delegation from the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Decentralization led by Madame Yap Mariatou, the Director of Civil Protection on Sunday 9th July 2017, visited some refugees in Nyang, Nwa Sub division, Donga Mantung Division of the North-West Region, who are fleeing intertribal conflict in Nigeria.
The refugees who are mostly Fulanis, are been hosted by good willing families in Nwa, with a good number taken care of by the local administrators and some NGOs like MBOSCUDA who are providing them with some basic commodities.
The DO of Nwa, Mr TUMASANG Walters, says the refugees are in need of some basic necessities, sanitary facilities, food and water, to make life better. For them, though they are living happily in Cameroon, the refugees wish to return home someday.
The delegation from MINATD is accompanied by a team from the United Nations Refugee Agency, who are there to take statistics of the situation at hand and to come back with more aid for the refugees.
Nyang is a border locality between Cameroon and Nigeria and since last month has hosted some 243 displaced persons from Mambila and Fulani tribes in Nigeria.
The tribal conflict led to the death of about 100 persons in Saduna, Tabara state in Nigeria.
