The Governor was speaking during a four day economic tour of Donga Mantung Division. The economic tour which began on the 25th of May 2014 enabled the Governor to acquaint himself with some of the economic activities in the division as well as problems faced by project owners. He was accompanied in the tour by the Etat Major and several Regional Delegates.
During a visit to the CDC palm nursery at Mbawrong-Njirong village,the elites in and out of the division were called upon to take advantage of the opportunity to purchase palm seedlings at subsidized rates at the CDC palm nursery. The CDC palm nursery as explained by the Project Coordinator is one of the economic hopes of Donga Mantung Division.
The Governor later paid a visit to the FAO abandoned structure where he reiterated government’s intention to revamp the structure. He particularly enjoined the Fon of Ntumbaw and elites to demarcate the land in order to avoid encroachment and to report cases of theft to the forces of Law and Order.
PROJECTS VISITED
About thirty projects were visited by the Governor of the North West Region. The Governor made the first stop at the Agro industrial complex project site in Lus with a hundred hectares of land while palms occupy 40 hectares.
The Lus Health Center, border market, Mfe-Nwa water catchment project, Nwa Council Chambers and graziers were equally visited.
In Ndu Subdivision, the CDC palm nursery in Mbawrong, FAO abandoned structure, Cameroon Tea Estate, Tea small Holder Factory at Njiptor, potato Ware House for Bui and Donga Mantung and the Donga Mantung Cooperative were projects/structures visited.
In Misaje Subdivision, the bridge under construction at Chunghe,collapsed bridge constructed by GP-DERUDEP at Mbem, Nkanchi water project, completed market sheds in Misaje market, dilapidated customs post Dumbu,Special Branch police post,Dumbu cattle market, abandoned cattle dip in Dumbu constructed by GP-DERUDEP were equally visited.
In Ako and Nkambe Subdivisions, the frontier post at Abuenshie, border market of Ako, the Ruga of Ardo Yaya, coffee farm of Mr. Ndua Ebenezer were some amongst the numerous projects visited.
The economic tour was equally an opportunity for the Governor of the North West Region to launch a new vaccine against diarrhea due to Rotavirus. He urged mothers to take their children regularly to the clinic or Health Car in order to automatically benefit from the vaccine which is free of charge from children from 0-11 months.
At the end of the tour, the Governor identified the man problems encountered by the economic operators of the division and promised to forward them to hierarchy. With the assistance of MIDENO, CDENO and GP-DERUDEP, some of the projects visited will be revamped soon.
