The celebrations which started with a pontifical High Mass led by the Apostolic Nuncio to Cameroon and Equatorial Guinea; H.E. PIERRO PIOPO was concelebrated by His Eminence Christian Cardinal WIGHAN TUMI who happens to be the Pioneer rector of STAMS and by the Metropolitan Archbishop of Bamenda His Grace Cornelius FONTEM ESUA as well as other bishops and priests from the Ecclesiastical Province of Bamenda and beyond.
Prominent among those present was the Most Reverend Pius SUH AWAH who in 1973 cofounded STAMS with the late Paul VERDZEKOV. Another founding figure present was Fr. Henri Peeters of the Mill Hill Missionaries who is the longest serving formator of the seminary since its inception in 1973.
The Administrative, Political and Traditional Dignitaries also graced the occasion with their presence amongst which were the Governor of the North West Region, the Senior Divisional Officer for Mezam, the President of the North West Appeal Court, the Divisional Officer and Mayor of Tubah, the National Chairman of the SDF, the Fon of Bambui and a host of other authorities.
The seminary which had long served as a teacher training college was founded in 1973 on the request of the laity who during the Episcopal ordination of the most Reverend Pius SUH AWAH as the coadjutor bishop of Buea in may 1971.
The Apostolic Nuncio after the holy mass decorated some dignatries with the Papal Medal of Honour:
