Members of Parliament
The Constitution of 02 june 1972, revised the 18 january 1996, state that the parliament is divided into two houses : the Senate and the National Assembly.
The Senate
The Senate or Upper House represents the decentralized territorial collectivities(Regions)They are 100 to be sitted in that House in q shqring of 10 by Region. Senators stay for a 5 years mandate and are elected(70) by Municipal Councilors and appointed(30) by the Head of State.
The very first senatorial elections were organized the 14th april 2013.

It also worth mentioning that the very first President of our Senate is M. Marcel NIAT NJIFENJI from the neighbour West Region and his deputy is Mr. Simon ACHIDI ACHU, from our Region. Both of them have been elected by their peers the 12 june 2013.
National Assembly
The National Assembly or Lower House represents the people. They are 180 elected for a 5 years term by universal suffrage and direct and secret vote. The last legislative poll was held the 30th September 2013 within the whole national territory.
